I completed four days of Insanity. Tonight I will be doing day 5. So far so good. I find that the workout is a challenge.  I am sticking to it. In fact I look forward in dropping a few extra pounds. Anything to get rid of high blood pressure.

I had to get to the point where I had to want to do it for me.

Well it was my breaking point. As a diabetic I stress about my feet and legs the most. However, the meds I suppose to be taking for my high blood pressure  made my ankles and calf swell badly. For me I can’t handle that. I stress, what if it isn’t the meds? What if this or that. Suppose my skin breaks open and I get an infection. I can’t deal with that.

So, I’m changing somethings to be around a little long. It all starts with me.

I guess this is a before of me that I am willing to show. I don’t know how much weight I am willing to drop, but long as I get rid of HBP (High Blood Pressure) !

I have not blogged for over a year. Not sure where to start either.

I am  challenging myself to loose weight to get my blood pressure under control. I don’t like the new meds my doctor put me on. My ankles and calf are always swollen. That isn’t right nor cute. Never had that happen to me until the meds. Now I am scared to take the meds. This was one of my breaking point. You would think being a diabetic on insulin would have made me say I want to take less insulin, I need to do something. Nope! Not at all!

What made me break was the tight feeling I got from the side effects from the meds. I get scared when it comes to my feet and legs. I need my legs to kick. Besides this is interfering with my martial arts life style. Plus I don’t want a stroke or heart attack from high blood pressure.  My question to myself was this….. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

That may seem like a simple or easy question. It isn’t!

I ordered the Insanity videos. Maybe this will whip me up in shape and to get rid of the high blood pressure meds.  Not worried about the insulin,  I have a feeling I will be taking less dosage once I finish.

Today I got my insanity package. This is my day 1 of a 60 day challenge. I did the fit test.

One I am glad I take martial arts. Cause I would have not made it as far as I did. I think I did okay, but I still doubt myself.

One day at a time.

And one more thing. I hate when I read blogs from someone loosing weight and they don’t really say what they did to loose it. Just a brief I change my eating style, and joined the gym. No real details at all.

Well I am going to give you the good and bad. I will try to log my meals, my exercises, and my thoughts.

Last night I went to bed my sugar levels was 140.  I testing, tested my ketones and it was negative. This is good. So this morning I tested ketones and guess was the damn stick was dark. So that told me to check my sugar levels. At 6:33am it tested at 210. That is the highest I have had it in a few days. So I am trying to figure out while the spike.  What did I do different then the last few nights?

Today is the day I have my work up from the Holistic Dr. I am very excited about going. It is time for a change. Like I say you can try the doctors and the meds all you want, but when it is not enough try something different. Don’t knock something unless you have tried it. If it doesn’t work like  most things, then go back to what you were doing.  I think it is worth trying something new for new results.

After all T2 diabetes can be beat! The one you can’t beat from what I know of is T1. If someone do  come up with a serious method to beat it. I think a lot of people will jump on the band wagon.

My body does produce it’s own insulin. I have beat this thing before. My T2 was due to my weight. This was when I was younger. I lost it and I didn’t have it anymore.

Now this ball game is way different. I had pancreasititist and now my sugars are wacked. I don’t think it has much to do with my weight anymore. I lost 30 lbs sense January.

The pancreas is my main concern.

Oh by the way milk rises my sugars. 2% milk is something to stay away from for now.

Talk to you later.

Today I had a very good day with my mom. I went to IHOP with my mom for breakfast. I am dead set on bring my sugar levels down. I had a T-bone steak, Fried hard eggs, and three bitter milk pancakes. I didn’t take my meds. I wanted to know if it is me or meds that are keeping sugars down. Guess what, I put a small amount of syrup on my pancakes. It had to be no more then a half table spoon. Anywho, I also had to pots of coffee. I enjoyed that the most. Now on top of that. I ate just about all of it. I wish me the best and kept it moving. By the way Pancakes are simple carbs so is syrup.

Two Hours passed and I tested at early 140’s. I was excited because I have not seen that in a while. Now about a hour later I had a strawberry slushy. It was that or a Slurpee. I made my decision. I tested about a hour later it was 164 then two hours later it was 134. Damn! I am kicking the shit out of diabetes. I am determine to beat  this crippling disease.

I tested my Keytones and it was negative. I am so excited because This morning it was dark. Perhaps it was the coffee or I am doing natural things to help me on my way.

I have one last stick and I will not test tonight. I had chicken and onions for my dinner. My snack will be 2 cups of corn puffs. Carbs are 24 and fat is high (simple carbs)

I will have my sunflowerseeds and a apple later if I het hungry. Then again I don’t need anything else tonight.

Oh I will be testing my keytones for the rest of the week and will let you know what I come up with if anything. I will be at the wholefoods store for my veggies for the week and my beans.

I am doing the happy dance because my sugars levels are coming down. I see light and I will cure this damn thing soon.

I go see a Holistic Dr on Tuesday.

This morning I woke up at my lowest 170. I must be doing something right. I still have keystone’s. So far this is what I have been doing. I have been doing more proteins like fish pan cooked with Pam, turkey beacon, and some chicken breast saluted with onions. Far as my veggies kale, collards, cabbage, onion, and bell peppers. That is all I really eat far as veggies. I notice there is no rise when it cames to the above things. Now for the fruits. Grapefruit, but it has a rise even though it is suppose to be a complex carb. Don’t eat it! I had some strawberries and I didn’t rise, apple too. In fact someone told me that an apple a day, keeps the doctors away.  I started doing dome research about foods. I intake complex carbs and no simple carbs. This was not hard for me because I really stop eating a lot of foods. My stomach always hurt because of the attack I had.

Already did some research on what to eat and what not to eat. I explain below the difference in simple & complex carbs.  I am sharing this because someone out there is in the same boat as me.

This is what I came up with for my my food debate:

Look for foods that have not been highly processed or refined.

Choose a piece of fruit instead of fruit juice, which is very high in naturally occurring simple sugars. Choose whole grain breads instead of white bread. Choose whole grain oatmeal instead of packaged cold cereals.

If the label lists

sugar, sucrose, fructose, corn syrup, white or “wheat” flour, they contain simple carbohydrates. If these ingredients are at the top of the list, they may contain mostly simple carbohydrates, and little else. They should be avoided.

simple carbohydrates are:

more refined, fewer nutrients, less satisfying and more fattening.

sugar and other simple carbohydrates can alter your mood, lead to cravings,  compulsive eating, cause raise blood-sugar levels, and cause weight gain in most people.

Table sugar, Corn syrup, Fruit juice, Candy, Cakes, Bread made with white flour,

Pasta made with white flour, Soda pop, such as Coke®, Pepsi®, Mountain Dew®, etc.

All baked goods made with white flour, Most packaged cereals

Carbohydrates are necessary to your health,

because every cell in your body uses them for energy. In fact, your brain can only use carbohydrates for energy. Unfortunately, over-consumption of sugar and other highly refined carbohydrates has been associated with a higher incidence of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and even breast cancer. According to the World Health Organization, sugars and other simple carbohydrates are a leading factor in the worldwide obesity epidemic.

Complex carbohydrates are high-fiber foods,

which improve your digestion, stabilize the blood sugar, keep energy at an even level, and help you feel satisfied longer after your meal.

Examples: simple and complex carbohydrates

The healthiest foods are high in fiber, and contain complex carbohydrates along with many other vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. They will also contain other nutrients, such as protein and fats, in moderation. These foods will not be highly refined.

  complex carbohydrates are:

Spinach, Turnip Greens, Lettuce, Water Cress, Zucchini, Asparagus, Artichokes, Okra, Cabbage, Celery, Cucumbers, Dill Pickles, Radishes, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Eggplant, Onions, Tomatoes

Whole Barley, Buckwheat, Buckwheat bread, Oat bran bread, Museli, Wild rice,

Brown rice, Multi-grain bread, Pinto beans, Yogurt, low fat, Skim milk, Navy beans, Cauliflower, Soy milk, Whole meal spelt bread

Grapefruit, Apples, Prunes, Apricots, Dried, Pears, Plums, Strawberries, Oranges, Yams Carrots, Potatoes, Soybeans, Lentils, Garbanzo beans, Kidney beans, Lentils, Split peas
